Just the two of us

This is a love story of two people that met one faithful night in the heart of the French Quarter.

Now this isn't the most romantic story... or even super exciting... but it fits both of our personalities.

    Simple, genuine, honest. :)

Here goes...

Josh had been working in a small town close to New Orleans for a few months while I was living in New Orleans trying to finish up school.  Being extremely classy people, Josh and I were out separately with friends having a few toddies and unbeknownst to the two of us, would meet on a cool night in October of 2007.

(I always love when people ask how we met, because everyone always says never meet your hubs/wifey at the bar...well boo-yah.)

                           Anyways...

I guess serendipity stepped in and in the middle of shaking my bon bon at the club, Josh stepped in and introduced himself.  Now, if you asked any of my friends they would tell you that I'm a total (biaatchh) gentle soul when it comes to strange men coming up to me.

BUT For some reason though I spoke back to Josh (lucky him) and so our little love story began.

Over the next week or so we talked on the phone every night and decided to meet up at our "mid way point" (which was Chili's).  I have to laugh at myself because right before I got to Chili's I stopped off in the Walmart parking lot to fix my makeup and to take a few deep breaths.

Now, I would love to say we had a super amazing fireworky connection on the beginning of the date but alas it just wasn't. Don't get me wrong, it was a great first date but I think nerves got in the way and we both weren't ourselves. (As evidenced by me spilling my whole fajita pita in my lap, yep.)

So when Josh asked me to come back to his place to talk some more I have no earthly CLUE why I said yes.  I have NEVER EVER done that before (seriously) and still don't know why I did.  Because he could very well have been a serial killer that lurks out in the French Quarter luring girls to Chili's and then killing them and throwing them in the cane field.

But for some reason there was something different about him.  He had such a "gentlemanly vibe" to him and didn't seem like he was trying to get in my pants. So we went back and hung out talking for hours laughing and goofing off on SEPARATE couches and we didn't touch once ha!  He was the perfect gentleman and was nothing but respectful.  (and yes, I fully know that I was extremely lucky.)

So he drove me back to my car and I made my way home to New Orleans.  I couldn't wait to get back to spill to my best friend Kate...we talked for hours about how a decent date turned into something so great.

From that date on Josh and I continued to date and it has been wonderful ever since.  We have been through so much and he is my best friend and soul mate.  I love that dude.  He has been such a supportive other half through nursing school, long distance, moving, relationships, changes, tragedies, you name it.

In conclusion, I would have never thought this Louisiana suburbia girl would marry a Texas country boy and live anywhere other than the South.

Okay, so enough talking let's see some pics!

Our first picture together!

Basically we're master fishermen.

and swimmers...

We party

He was "the one" because he could pick me up without grunting.  True story.

He cracks me up.  He looks like my "keeper"

                       He's a married man, yo.

Weekend Wonderfuls

Hope everyone had an awesome weekend!

Our weekend was full of food, football, and farmer's market action.

My only fall decor.  I know, pathetic but gotta start somewhere right?

Before the farmer's market trip!

Josh and I have been wanting to visit the local farmer's market since we've moved here, so we woke up early to see what they had!

Tie dye t-shirt anyone?

Gorgeous flowers.  Wanted to take them all home.

Josh was dying to make some salsa so we raided the poor lady's pepper, onion, and tomato selection.

Happy hubby!

So overall it was a total success!  It was a little small, but the selection was great and we went a little overboard with all of the produce.

For game day Josh decided to make ribs and salsa.  Totally go together.

Game food!!

Happy Monday!

Friday

                                                      Happy Friday!!

I love these link ups, so I decided to link up with Lauren today!

1.   The best thing I did all week was  spending last night with all technology turned off and talking all night with the hubs (way past his bedtime hehe).

2.    Iced coffee on the porch and fall weather      make me super happy.

3.  Pets are  a part of the family.

4.    Josh   is the best thing about my life.

5.  With the cooler weather I am looking forward to  camping, trying out our new fireplace, fall clothing, and spending the holidays with friends and family.

6.  Something that's on my "wish list" right now is   a new coat.  I think I'm going to need one of those for this weather everyone is warning me about!

7.  This weekend I am going to  check out our town's fresh market, spend time with my little family, cooking and eating good food, Lsu football, and attempting to knit.  Again.  First time=fail :(.

Addicted.

Hi, my name is Gabrielle and I am a school supply addict.

It's true. I can't help it.  I've always been one.

I think I missed my calling either as manager of the Office Depot or a worker in a pen/pencil factory.

I was totally the crazy loon in school begging my mom all summer to take me to Wal-Mart or Office Depot to see if my school had posted our supply list yet.

I would get all giddy going through the aisles looking at all of the new pens and notebooks that sat on the shelves.

I swear they whispered my name.  I think it sounded a little like..."hey suuuuckkerrr."

To this day when September rolls around I can't help but browse the back to school section of the store.  Ya'll, the stuff they have out now is adorable.  Makes me wanna go back to school.

Kinda.

Look at the cute stuff I found!  Not that I've been looking or anything ;).

Geaux LSU anyone?

There is NOTHING better than getting new school supplies.  It's the little things people.  Annnnnd good school supplies make you smarter and well behaved. FACT.

(I'm fairly certain I will have more fun looking at supplies than my own offspring.)

So if we were stranded on an island I would totally be the "go to girl" for unlimited pen and paper selection.  We could put a message in a bottle and send it out to sea. Just something to think about. :)

Wednesday fun!

This is my first link up with Michelle

What I've been loving lately are infinity scarves.  I have a love affair with all scarves, I just think they can dress up any outfit.

So so cute!

Another thing I've been obsessed with is monogramming.  Weird, I know!

Love this wreath!

            Great idea for Christmas/Birthday gifts

Full House

Josh and I were super excited when we found out that Josh's brother Chris and his little family were coming in this weekend to hang.  They recently moved to Ohio, so we're happy to have some fam join us in the Midwest!

...And thennnnn Josh found out his former coworker was in Chicago for the weekend and was going to spend Saturday with us as well.  So needless to say we had a full house!

Can I just say how much I love Josh's family?  He is the oldest of four boys and they are all great with even greater wives!  I really couldn't have asked for better sis in law's because whenever we all get together we have such a good time!

I suspect that Mal (Chris' wife) and I would be "real life" friends regardless of if we were tied together by marriage.  Whenever we get together we have the best time.  It was really good to get some good "girl talk" in and to meet Josh and I's new nephew Lincoln!  He's six months old and is ADORABLE!  It was the first time we have met him since we all live so far away, so we were ecstatic!

Here are a few pics from the weekend:

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!!
