I'm a knittin' fool

                                    Ok I lie.

Let me rephrase that. I'm an aspiring knitter that just spent an hour in the library rummaging through knitting books, 30 minutes at Michael's looking at knitting needles, (there's more than one size...huh?) and contemplating how to start what I've gotten myself into.

You see, my Granny (whom I absolutely adore)is a master spinner, crocheter, weaver, knitter, yarn dyer, you name it.  The woman has skills and she works it. Growing up I would always love going through all of her newest projects and would stare in awe at her non stop knitting. (She is so hardcore that she brought her "knitting/weaving bag" with her when evacuating for Katrina.)

I swear the secret to why she's so badass at 88 years old is because she has always stayed busy with her projects. (Or maybe the fact she has drank one small glass of wine every night since the beginning of time.  Either way I want in).

I needed a new creative outlet for myself as well as an excuse to watch as much trashy tv because hey, I'm creating a masterpiece. ( p.s. I hate you dvr for your endless hours of trash to watch and Pinterest for all of your magic wizardry of way cute knitted projects).  So I called Granny and she was ecstatic to send me tons of hand spun wool she has made.  So I have my yarn, my books, my needles, all I need now is the knowledge on how to do this shiz.

                                    Exhibit A:

Do you know what to do with this?  Because I don't.

The gorgeous hand spun yarn my granny has made.

Her love note :)

One of the 6 books I got.  Huck wanted to get in on the action.  Clearly.

Huck stalking all of the yummy yarn that he would love to tear to pieces.

With all of this said, we shall see.  That's all I can say at this point.  I wish I had my granny with me in Indiana to be my personal "Mr. Miyagi", but alas I will have to resort to YouTube and "Knitting for Dummies".  Sigh.

Next time I blog I will have knitted a beautiful afghan for Josh and I.  Okay, I lie again.

I will consider it a win if I make something without poking my eye out with a knitting needle out of frustration.

Anyways, what I aspire to make.  Maybe.

Love this blanket!!

Too stinkin' cute!

Hopefully my "masterpiece" doesn't end up in here.

                           Wish me luck ladies!

  1. You can do it!!! I have wanted to learn to knit, but I haven't even gone to get books or anything. Maybe I will let you learn first. And then me. Haha. Good luck!

  2. haha thanks!! It should definitely be interesting! :)
